What We Do
Empowering BIPOC Engineers. Building a More Inclusive Future.
Code + Culture exists to uplift underrepresented voices in research software engineering, foster a sense of belonging, and create pathways to success through connection, support, and opportunity.
Our Mission
At Code + Culture, our mission is to empower and support BIPOC research software engineers (RSEs) by providing a platform for connection, mentorship, and professional growth. We believe that representation matters, and we are here to break down the barriers faced by underrepresented engineers in tech.

Our Challenge
The tech industry, including research software engineering, continues to face a diversity gap. BIPOC engineers often encounter barriers in access to opportunities, resources, and support. Code + Culture was created to address these challenges by building a strong, inclusive network that uplifts underrepresented voices and fosters meaningful connections.
Our Solution
Code + Culture provides a space for BIPOC engineers to come together, share experiences, and grow professionally. Through mentorship, career resources, events, and collaborative discussions, we aim to create a pathway for more diverse representation and success in the RSE field.
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating an environment where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is prioritized, and every voice is valued. Our goal is to ensure that BIPOC engineers not only find opportunities but are empowered to lead and make impactful contributions to the tech industry.
Get Involved
Join us in building a more inclusive future for research software engineers. Whether you’re a BIPOC RSE, an ally, or simply passionate about creating change, there are many ways to get involved and support the Code + Culture mission.
